Peaches & Cream Smoothie.

It'a osteoporosis awareness month.. a disease I honestly did not know a lot about. Upon some research I learned that it affects up to 55% of women over the age of 50. Yikes! It only makes sense to take preventative action.

I'm all about taking vitamins regularly (and eating as much of a balanced diet as possible). Having an autoimmune disease (and now keeping it in remission) I have found that its extremely important to make sure my body is getting all the vitamins and minerals that it requires to function best. This supports my immune system and helps to keep the balance that I need to feel good.

I am a huge, huge fan of Wellesse Liquid Vitamins. HUGE. If you have seen my previous smoothie and beverage recipes you already know how much I love their multi vitamin. Having Hashimotos I have to be cautious of my iodine intake and their multi is one of the ONLY ones I have found on the market that is free of iodine. Plus, all of their vitamins are certified gluten free (and almost all sugar free/stevia sweetened as well too!)

Upon learning about the prevalence of osteoporosis I figured it might be good to add some calcium to my diet..so naturally I tried the Wellesse Calcium & Vitamin D3 supplement. Its citrus flavored (and tastes really good!) I have been drinking it in this smoothie almost every day the last few weeks!

This smoothie is simple to throw together and refreshing! Bet you didn't know that taking vitamins could be a delicious experience :)

Peaches & Cream Smoothie

 

  • 1 1/2 cup frozen peaches
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt (or vanilla) Dairy or Nondairy
  • 3 Ice Cubes
  • 1/2-3/4 cup milk Dairy or Nondairy
  • Nunaturals Stevia (to taste) Or other sweetener of choice.
  • 1 serving (2 TBS) Wellesse Liquid Calcium & D3

Combine all ingredients in a blender!

    This looks wonderful! Can’t wait for the fresh peaches to start coming in. I’m a bit confused by your comment about iodine and Hashimotos, though. I also have Hashimotos, and have been told to get MORE iodine into my diet. I am 56 and was diagnosed with osteoporosis a few years ago when i fell and broke both bones in my arm. I was told at the time it was because of the synthroid I take…it leaches the calcium from your bones, so I take calcium supplements along with Vit D (and have for years) and now everything I read online is against taking calcium. It’s all so confusing. Could I ask where you got your info, so I can have a look? Thanks and thanks for the great recipe!
