I've had this recipe on my to do list for years..and just finally got the gusto to give it a whirl. To my surprise it was easy to create! These delicious overly indulgent onions are stupid easy to make, the only tricky part is carefully cutting the onion! I recommend using a little onion to try out the technique first- after one practice round you'll be good to go! (and of course, throw that onion in a baggy or tuperware into the fridge for later use!)
